Enneagram

2025 Mapping the Soul with the Enneagram

(DS3208W / DS9208W)

Overview and duration

This unit explores the interface between personality and the soul or divine nature, using the Enneagram personality mapping system. The Enneagram offers profound insights into human psychology and the spiritual quest for freedom and wholeness, reflected in many religious traditions.

Students will be invited to reflect upon their own personality ‘types’, the gifts and challenges of their common drivers and patterns, and how these impact upon their lives, decisions and relationships with self, God and world. They will explore helpful paths for more healthy integration of their personality and spirituality.

Additional unit information

The Enneagram is a personality system that identifies nine common inner motivations for responding to life. It is a tool that develops awareness and understanding of oneself and others, generating insights for improving one’s patterns of relating, decision making, and behaviour.  While having overlapping functions with the Myers-Briggs personality system, the Enneagram provides dynamic strategies for self-improvement, spiritual growth and team building. Originally drawing from Christian, Jewish and Islamic mystical traditions, the Enneagram has developed over the centuries to provide a comprehensive spiritually based personality mapping system to aid people to become more aware and whole, in spirit and mind.

At WellSpring, we run programs on the Enneagram to complement the other core programs in spiritual companioning, contemplation, and reconciliation and peacemaking.
